SUNDAY FALL @ CHARMOLI CIARMOLI 23 JUNE 2023- 30 JULY
--
Charmoli Ciarmoli is proud to present the first Solo Exhibition of Manhattan native Sunday Fall. Co curated by KJ Freeman. The tongue in cheek, dark humor mixed media of gouache, acrylics and watercolor works on paper deliver snippets of comedic narrative. Leaning into gestural brushstrokes, heavy layering or generous negative space with singular one shot gestures. The painterly techniques Fall employs lends itself perfectly to the already playful nature of the depictions. Be prepared for a wide range of character based explorations; including portraits of Bigfoot looking for love, monster portraits, a starving African surrounded by pizza slices, Wonder Woman battling an octopus, and a turtle celebrating their birthday. Additionally Van Gogh inspired renditions of African huts, Fall examines the notion of home, patience, time, and the simplicity of rural living interpreting ancient proverb “Only a patient person can cook a rock.” Fall has previously exhibited with HOUSING and Kai Matsumiya. We invite you to join us for the opening on Friday June, 23rd from 6–9.
